Could I Beat A Sti?

Well i know the sti would own me at the launch but would my 95z28 with have a chance with these mods K&N CAI, SLP HEADERS, 3" Y-PIPE, 3" FLOWMASTER CATBACK, CUSTOM TUNNING, MSD IGNITION, GRANETELLI MASS AIRFLOW, 3.73 GEARS AND HOTCHKIS SUSPENSION.

Eehhh.... I dunno I'm leaning towards very close race maybe the STi a bit above. you. AWD Turbo + 300hp.. Stock.

i Know it has 300hp but that's at the crank and with the awd it looses alot of hp/tq i know it would kill me on the launch but i think i would be able to catch the son of the bitch

I don't know STi's top speed, off the line definately and I still think you'd have a hell of a time keeping up imo. STi's are nasty things. Not dissing your car, I just think he has the upper hand even if AWD does lose some power in the drivetrain.

Make sure you race to at least 120mph... AWD = massive drive train losses at speed.

Yeah that's so true, i'm picky on where i'm willing to open up my maro, but it all depends on the street and time.

Make sure you have Z-Rated tires too. If you are going to be dumb, atleast prepare yourself the best you can ya know. :)

Yeah there z-rated and the maro has a full hotchkis suspension with a 2" drop, so she handles pretty good

You should be able to take an STi from a roll.
If you go from a dig...you will need a hell of a launch and you would need to go to a decent speed to catch him.

I don't do it everyday but if the car seems like it's worth it i'll give it a shot, but i never speed in traffic though if i kill someone it's going to be me and no one else.

I think my project car will be a 3rd gen with 350 and work it up to have some nice kick to it while i have a beater. This is just fantasy when i'm in college.

80 MPH??? That isn't even done with 3rd gear. Hell, I still have 25MPH to go before I shift outta 3rd from 80MPH.

I can do 90-ish in 3rd gear but thats getting like 8mpg @ 5500rpms

And my 3rd gear tops at around 105 MPH. That is now. It will be getting bumped up a little with the tune since the motor will be spinning to 6600 instead of 6200.

DUDE!!! How can you race and type at the same timne?! I can barely eat and type at the same time let alone drive and eat!!

I raced a stock STi at the track.

I ran a 14.25 @ 102.84mph to his 14.49 @ 94.53mph.

That was with a bad clutch that stuck to the floor and denied me a 3rd gear shift... luckily I was able to get 3rd gear in time to real him in.

He still beat me cause of reaction time and 60'. Margin of win was .1481

First time running the track and I got nudged out... oh well. :)

well one advantage u have that the smokingz28 does not have is u have a ls1. the sti and the ls1 f bodies are good races and usualy the sti gets them out of the hole, then the ls1 pulls on them near 3rd gear. lt1's with just the mods u have u are pushing it close from a dig. from a roll u were ok, but from a stand still i think the sti has u on that one. unless your car has the 240-260hp it had from the factory, then u are in for a ride looking at some tail lights. race from a dig and report back and let us all know what the outcome was.

But that STi wasn't all that quick really... just nasty outta the hole. So it's up to whomever is at the wheel really.

Being inside a 3rd gen is like a being in a fast ass tank. You'll be safe... even at speeds above 200mph....

Not sure about the geo metro... i've heard that they have a reinforced electronic force field that kicks in at 80mph... might be the safest ride around... bikes are nothing but organ donors, lucky if you can donate them after a accident on one of those...

Metal is metal, but if you hit crap at 100mph, air bag smashes your face in, seat belt rips, your metal steering wheel makes a 4" gash into yoru forehead, your 3rd gen turns into what resembles a crunched soda can. You go fast, you hit hard and you die if you get into an accient. That is what happened to Andy, bless him, sad to say I think even if the belt did NOT snap I dont think he would have survived the wreck.
