Hi,
I'm from France so sorry for my english! I just buy a Chevrolet Suburban (1994) ... very nice truck and I have a problem : when I press on the brake the rear lights do not ignite! The fuse are Ok the lights also OK and I don't know what can I do.
A mechanic spoke to me about a interuptor who would start when I press on the brake but he could not found it! So if somebody have an idea about how the rear lights work on this truck this would really help me.
Thank you! Catalin

There are a few potential sources for your problem.
The first, and possibly most obvious would be the fuse in the fuse panel. If the fuse is blown, the brake lights will not operate.
The second posibility is a defective brake light switch. I am not certain which type was used in '94, but it could be a little plunger type switch that is depressed by the brake pedal arm up under the dash. A second possibility is a pressure activated switch which would be found in one of the brake hydraulic lines.
The third possibility would relate to what I assume would be tailight modifications required to operate the Suburban in France. If amber directional signal lights have been added this could have caused some confusion along the way if the factory US/North American tailights were otherwise non-modified. If the dual filament bulbs have been replaced by single filament bulbs in the factory tailights it is possible that may be the explanation of no brake lamps. The quickest check for this problem would be to compare the number on the bulbs with that specified in the owner's manual.
