code 1

I am getting a code 1 and was wondering what it could be,,i know code one is oxygen content,,so can that be different things or is it specifically one thing,,my check engine light came on when i was driving on the freeway . I looked at the air filter and it looked dirty,,do you guys think that was the code 1,,just wanted to be sure, im hoping i dont have to change the oxygen sensor

try changing the filter if you thinks thats it. the o2 sensor is not that hard to replace if thats it. all your reallt need to do is take off the heat sheild for the header, then use a open end wrench or cut the wire of the old on and use a socket to get it out, then use a open end to put the new one in.

its prolly either the dirty ass filter, or more likely the O2 sensor.

Ah the dreaded code 1. It's like a damn virus. I started getting the same thing right after I bought my Civic. So I went out & spent $40 on an O2 sensor from the local auto-parts store. That lasted a day. To this day I don't know what the problem is (besides buying a shitty O2 sensor). I was just too cheap to spend the $$$ on one from the dealer.

My "check engine" light only comes on if I'm not paying attention... I mean, I've got an AutoMeter A/F guage & as long as the car doesn't run too rich, for too long (more than a minute), the check engine light won't come on.

I figure I'll work the problem out when it comes swap time. Or that the swap will cure it :)

Now that I've rambled about nothing, my advice is to just replace the O2 sensor with one from the dealer. Don't waste your $$$ on aftermarket like I did. Hope this helps...at least a little!
