I just had to get my truck in the shop, it wouldn't start, it cost me 450 bucks to get it fixed, has 130,000 miles on it.
My question is this. when I "goose" it, i hear a squealing sound like the transmission is slipping. Also, when i drive it about 65 MPH I hear the same noise. About a Yr ago I took it to a shop because the rpm's at 70 mph used to be 2800, but now it is 3200. seems to have lost part of hi gear or something..

Anyone have any help?

Thanks:cwm27:

What did they say when you took it to the shop for the rpm problem? It does sound like your missing a high gear. You should probably get it looked at because it's causing strain on your engine, that is revving that high. I had that problem with my last truck, a '87 F-150 with a C4 trans. It wouldn't go higher than second gear, and I had to get it rebuilt, set me back about 600-700 bucks. As for the squealing, I've never heard of a trans squealing, but I guess it's possible. I had a pathfinder that would squeal when I gave it gas, but it was just the belts. That could be it, but you said it sounded like it was coming from the trans so probably not.

Yeah When I had it in the shop the mechanic tried to read the codes on the truck when it was running, but his machine wouldn't read my truck. I don't use the truck a whole lot anymore, just to work and back usually, and to load my canoe in it to go fishing. No it isn't the belts, I really am not sure where it is coming from, but I am babying it, trying to make it last a while longer, then I may either sell it or give it away.. that v6 engine doesnt get very good gas mileage.. Thanks for your answer!
