I ve read somewhere in this forum on the ability to raise up the front end on this truck. Are there some adjustments that can be made by just turning a bolt on each side of the truck??

I just put new tires on and noticed that the front end is just a tad lower than the back. I would like to even it out,if possible.

If you could provide a link with pics,it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh,the tires I replaced were 245`s. I replaced them with 265`s. What a diffence in the profile with the taller tires. Looks fantastic:smile:

Ill post up a pic when I get more time.

Thanks for any help,eh?

What you're saying doesn't make sense. If you had the same size tires all around and replaced them with the same size tires all around, your truck should be just as level or unleveled as before. And it looks good to me. You can alwys measure the hieght of the body just in front of the back wheel and just behind the front wheel just to see if it's the same. Sharp looking truck by the way. I like the color. My '93 was the same as that one and I really liked it.

I was going to post a thread about this too. I have an 01 2wd LS. and I jacked the front end up a little to drain the water from the bed after I washed it. (has a spray-in bedliner). I stepped back from the truck and it looks so much better leveled out like that. I would like to bring the front up an 1" or so. I think that would make a better look.
I think they set these with a pitch for aerodynamics or something. The Z71's are more leveled because of the 4wd. AM I right?

My Z-71 was far from level up until a few days ago when I installed Ford keys on it. Doing this gave me almost 2 inches of lift in the front and completely leveled my truck. It cost about $46 in parts and an hour and a half to change out. Looks great and rides great. You can find complete instructions on how/where to order the parts and how to install them with pictures. Just do a search for Ford keys. Hope this helps.

Can this be done on a 2WD? What exactly are these "keys"?

I'm reposting this as posted by norwood on another thread. I'm not sure about the 2WD you may have to look into that a little, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Basically a leveling kit for torsion bars consists of torsion keys with different indexing or "clocking". This allows for a much higher adjustment than the stock would allow. Such as the Ford keys I installed on my '99 Silverado. All that being said, understand that you are still "cranking" up your torsion bars. Thats what leveling is. I raised my Silvey about an inch and a half or so. So far every thing has been fine.

BTW the leveling kits you may see on ebay are nothing more than these different indexed keys and I've seen them for $70-$80 bucks to almost $200!!! What a rip-off!!

The place to get them is http://www.fordpartsonline.com/

Use part#XL3Z5B328CA about $18 bucks ea. if I remember right

The article that tells all about this: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/fscu/fordkeys.shtml

Drop the rear; you can get a set of 2" drop shackles that will lower the rear 2" and pretty well even things out. This won't effect your ground clearance, but it will allow the body to sit closer to the rear axle

You can't use the keys on 2wd, they don't use torsion bars. You could actually get some coil spring spacers or something of the like to work on your front end.

Thats what I want to do, I dont want the front any lower, just want to get rid of the "rake" look and level everyting out. But I also dont want my truck to bottom out when I load up the bed. :banghead: I guess I cant have both.

Sure ya can, lower the rear with the drop shackles, then get some aftermarket overload springs.

(I dont know too much about this stuff....)
and how stiff will my ride be by doing this?

Well it should retain normal spring rates until the helper springs come into play. I'm not sure off the top of my head but I think it's Hellwig that makes some that you can put on there and they're pretty decent, I'll try and find them and post a link later but your ride will be stiffer when they are activated or w/e you wanna call it, but otherwise it shouldn't differ too much.

Also, if money isn't too much of a problem you can always get air bags underneath for when you're hauling, they just go in between the frame and the axle so they're fairly simple, if change your own oil your plenty skilled enough to do that I'd think.

2 days ago I put 285's back on mine. I didn't do anything at all to lift it. If I can get some pics, I will.

I have a 2005 Silverado 3500 4x4 if you use the key's on the front you need to replace the shocks, the factroy ones are to small. You need to be carfull because on my truck the front end is hitting on the factory bump stop. The bump stop I was having problems with is the one on the top control arm. The only time it was hitting was when I would get a heavy load on the back of the truck.
