"02 Explorer EGR Valve issues

The "Service Engine Soon" light came on on my '02 Exploder. I hooked up a diagnostic meter from Autozone and got a P1600 fault code (EGR VALVE LOW INPUT). There was a recall for the EGR valve if it failed under 36000 miles. Knowing it was a p.o.s. part, and being at 55000 miles, I replaced the EGR valve and gasket myself then cleared out the fault code. Within a couple of miles the light came back on and a re-test showed P1600 again. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Any help is appreciated greatly. Thank you. :banghead:

The recall was for the EGR pressure sensor switch for the 2002-2003 Explorers.

There's no recall on the EGR valve. And any parts that fails under 36000 miles is replaced free of charge...it's called bumper to bumper warranty. I bet if you replace the DPFE sensor, your code and light go away. Anyhow...where does the power input go on an egr valve?

Have your dealer run your vin no for recalls on it.
You should recieved got a 401 recall letter on it
A lot of the dpfe sensors were recalled and updated at no charge on them. The dpfe sensor is the main problem on egr valve codes.

I have been having the same problem with my truck with the egr valve i had it replaced but the light still comes on and even after resetting it, within a few miles the light comes back on. but i will definately take a look at what you said and have the DPFE sensor looked at.

It seems I recall reading the emissions system is warranted for something like 75,000 miles?
Check your owners manual for details.
