Loss of power when accelerating

Hi,

I have a 91 Clio 1.4RT. The problem it has is when you dip the throttle quickly the revs drop momentarily - like the engine "stutters", then it comes to life. It happens in all gears but is more noticable in 1st & 2nd. Especialy if you are trying to pull off quickly, the car seems to stall then bouce back into life (dont think it actually stalls tho) - its not unusual for us to lose power just as weve pulled onto a roundabout! then it picks up just before the other car ploughs into the side of you :)

I have run Redex through the carb directly. The injector looks like its spraying a nice mist into the carb-looking thing.

I've worked on cars in the past but never got involved in fuel related problems so am at a loss as to what this could be... any help will be much appreciated!

Cheers
