Just FYI on Gauges

I found a 1990 150 mph gauge pod on ebay cheap, and thought I'd plug it into my 1990 120 mph GT to see if it works.
It does, direct bolt in, and all gauges work perfect. Now I have factory Volt Meter and 150 mph speedo in my GT for $15.00.

Yup. I suspected that, like most options on basically the same car, it would work.
Plug and Play.

The Volt meter works perfectly, and the fuel gauge jumped right up to the level of the old gauge.

The speedo was my main concern, but it reads exactly the same as the old one...that is ; it reads 5mph lower than actual speed at 60 mph because of my larger than stock wheels/tires- 17 inchers.

This is confirmed by my GPS.

Its weird seeing the speedo needle so much lower on the gauge while cruising, than the 120mph one.

what about the temp. guage? the fuel, temp and volt guages on the gts are horizontal and the gt/st are vertical i didnt think they would work. i would rather have the 120 guages i think they look better(the ones on ebay anyways) plus the gts wont break 120 anyways.

Man thats sad that a 5th gen can't go past 120 when my 86 sohc 93 HP stock GT will move well beyond 120.(I've personally had the speedo buried at 5800rpm and it just keeps climbing to over 6000 when I let off the gas.) Do u guys have a speed governor on your 5th gens?

Everything works perfectly. The position of the gauges (horizontal v Vertical) makes no difference.
You like the look of the bigger fuel/temp gauges on the 120, as opposed to the three needles (temp/volt/fuel) of the 150? I think it looks alot better, plus more gauges are better no matter what, IMHO. The Volt gauge is very useful.

As for going faster....well, lol....I'm not actually planning on trying to hit a higher top speed, I just like the the look of that 150mph speedo. :)

it could get more than 120 maybe if you maxed out the rpms but it would take a while to get to that speed and i dont wanna wait that long just to put myself in danger or get a ticket. the fastest ive ever drove is 115 and it was still climbing but there were cars coming so i letr off. plus they have a governer at 117.

I don't think they do have a governor, my gt has been to 130 and back with me and my friend behind the wheel. It has a hard time gettin much past that though. Maybe the autos are governed.

my 95 st stopped at 116 with plenty of room to hit 125 or higher, it still had 1200rpm left to use
