overheating amps

my problem is that my amps are overheating after playing them for about 45 minutes in this hot ass arizona heat. what i want to do is hook up some fans that circulate air between the cabin of my sol and the trunk where the amps are sitting. my question is how should i go about doing this. the problems i am running into just thinking about it are making them turn on and off, and getting them power. i could just hook up a simple switch that i have to flip on and off everytime, but i was hoping for something better. it would be ideal if there was some way for them to turn on everytime the amps turn on. this would keep me from forgetting to turn the fans off, because they would turn off with the amps. the other problem is what do i hook them up to for a power source? do i just leech off of the power cables that are running back there from the battery, because that seems a little overkill. any ideas or suggestions would help out a lot. thanks.

There has to be a way to tap into the accesorry wire that turns on your amps, you can get a switch at radio shack to turn something on when the accessory wire powers.

You can wire it to your remote wire that goes from the HU to the amp. Tap into that and hook it to a relay and hook that up to a 12v fan. A good relay how-to can be found in the Interior/Audio/Security FAQ or JDMFan.com

Get better amps.

But seriously, yeah, you can leech power off your amp's power wires. The so few number of amps that the fan is drawing probably won't even affect the power going to the amp. And if your amps are overheating, they're probably not that great, which means they're not drwaing that much anyway.

And it's easy to hook up a relay to the amp turn-on lead so that the fan goes on when that's powered. I did that before and it works quite well.

if i were rich i would buy better amps, but for now this what i have to live with. i will try the relay thing, as you all seem confident it is rather easy to do. thanks for the help.
