hi, im new to these forums and new to the car restorations stuff. im 19, and recently bought a 73 nova. ive gotten then engine and transmission out and stripped everything down to the subframe. the car came with air conditioning, and id like to remove it. i was wondering if i removed the box taht sticks out from the firewall(?), since the airconditiong unit plugged into it, if that woudl remove the heating unit as well. if someone coudl please help me with how to get rid of all teh air considioning stuff without removing teh ehating elements form teh car taht woudl be great. thanks so much! - danny

I could be wrong, but if memory serves I think the heater core is back there, but actually sits in behind the fire wall. So if you remove the box, you should be fine. You may need to fabricate a plate or something to cover though.

Hi Zero,
I would search "that auction site" for an air conditioning delete cover. They usually run about $125.00, and look sick installed. Like you never touched it.
Please let me know if you remove the system, I bought my car after someone already removed the system and I would like to buy it from you.

No problem with the quality issue, all of my plumbing is braided stainless already so I will need to get new braided refridgerant hoses anyway. Just let me know if you pull it how much you want for it.
Thanks,
Paul

zero, so you have the body separated from the frame? i also have a 73 that i'm trying to work on. do you plan on keeping the front suspension or do you have an aftermarket setup in mind?

well, i plan in keepign the stock control arms and such, but am going to be replacing the springs and everything in there, and the sway bar and what not. did you need a certain part or something?

no, i didn't need a specific part or anything. i'm just kind of thinking of going with an aftermarket steering and suspension set up. it's really hard to find anything for 73's though. everything is for nova's up till 72.

well, if im not mistaken, most 68-74 nova parts are pretty much interchangeable, such as body panels and such. there are slight differences in body panels though, such as the light on teh fenders are smaller before 73. my budyd has a 68 camaro with some parts that he said will fit my nova, but it is hard to find anything taht is specifically made for a 73 nova since they are as desireable since its the first year they mad ethe bumpers stick out. i know hotchkis suspenison makes a tvs kit that is suppsoed to fit a 73 nova. the kit includes srpings, bushings, lleaft springs, sway bars, the works. its for a little under 1000 bucks so you migth wanna check into that if you want. i dunno thoguh. good luck man -danny

well, i plan to pretty much restore it, but add a few things to it as well. im swapping out the stock 307 for a 350 with a cam, redoing the suspension so it handles better, adding a cowl hood, putting a stock appearing stero in it, and some otehr things. im leaving almsot everything that i bought the car with in. i mena im taking it out and making it look pretty and such, but mostly trying to leave it with the original look. im leavin the front bench seat in tehre and everything. im also converting it from an automatic on teh tree, to a manual 4 on the floor. what abotu you? whata re your plans?
