She hit a parked car!

I think I've see the dumbest thing to date now. My wife hit a parked car in the driveway tonite. Now I have a scratch running the length of the bed of the truck. The sad thing is she wasn't even suppose to be in my truck. Just had the windshield replaced today. There goes my remote starter and cold air intake. Man I can't get over she hit her piece of crap truck and only broke a tail light cover. I guess I need to find me another chrome fender flair. I'll post pics of the damage tomorrow.

Is that ALL you are going to replace???? Had a '62 Nova Hdtp in college and the truth/joke was "The car came first and the car goes last..." Sad thing was it bugged her so bad that she fullfilled the prophecy!

In three years my wife has only driven my truck 4 times. Twice while on a trip and twice when I was doing some work on her car (they were really short trips). So far she hasn't hit anything (knock on wood). What you are facing here is a real test for the love you have for your wife. Which is more important...DON'T ANSWER THAT!!!

I completely agree with you. Women are like children in the respect that they require constant supervision. If I were you I would not let your wife drive your truck. I don't even let my wife drive at all; her duty is to not worry her pretty little head about a thing; she just has to stay home barefoot and pregnant.
Be the man and show your wife her place. You know what that means you have to do.

Yeah..Right!!! My wife doesn't drive the truck much by her choice, not mine (and works just fine for me). Besides she has an '05 Malibu Max and is having too much fun driving that. But I am serious in that when one spouse damages the vehicle primarily used by the other, it is none the less a challenge to the quality of the marriage.....

She's going to pay for the paint job on my truck. I need to get out and find a good paint shop up here in alaska. I think it will be awhile before she touches the truck.

Just fix it. Thats what insurance is for.

I thought marriage was a mutual thing. The damn truck don't matter, it can be replaced, or fixed in this case.

maybe I just have a distorted view of life....?

I know what it feels like to have your wife mess up your truck, While I was deployed my wifes car's power steering went out on her monte carlo, so instead of fixing it she started driving my truck, next thing i know im talking to her and she is crying her ass off, she says to me i wrecked your truck, well she hit a parked truck on the side of the road, minor damage to the 78 F-100's bumper, i now have a crease running from my passenger door to a dent and crease in my 3rd door all the way to the rear wheel well, and then she backed it into a pillar in our car port. Oh well what can you do.
I just hit mine with a phone book and call it a day. Im just kidding i love my wife and would never hit her :grinno: after all she is having my son. she now has to put up with 2 of me

I caught that and agree. Hopefully he never has to borrow his wife's car...

My wife has never cracked one of my vehicles up, but I smacked a deer with one of her Bonneville's once. Glad she was cool with me about it. I sure didn't intend to hit it, and I don't believe it was a lack of brains that caused it to happen.

I know I'll probably wreck, or scratch or do something to my wife's car, when I get married. And if she so happened to do whatever to my truck, oh well. At least she didn't get hurt.

Man, I hate to say it but your priorities are all F*$KED UP!! What do you mean "She is going to Pay for it" I damn near totalled my wife's van out, insurance paid for most of it, but the $500 deductable WE paid. Not I, nor HER, WE. At least she didn't get hurt. (Yes I understand she backed into a vehicle in your driveway, but she could have taken it out and got in a serious wreck and we all know what can happen when you or someone you know is involved in a SERIOUS wreck. I hope you are just screwing with us all and don't actually love that hunk of detroit steel and plastic more than the woman you married.

I'm sorry I will get off my soap box now, it just really errks me off when I here someone talk better about there vehicle than there wife. Accidents happen. Steel and fiberglass and plastic are fixable, an injured wife or relationship sometimes is not!

Yes people, my disturbing reply was a satire of Stantonl's attitude towards women shown in his thread about his wife and the scratch she made on his precious truck. Hence the subject "Oh the misogyny," for all of you clever people out there, misogyny is the hatred of women. My sarcasm could even been seen in my username which makes a mockery of this forum. I'm sorry I had to do so, but I believe my comment served its purpose in forcing at least some people to reevaluate their attitudes towards women, equality of the sexes, marriage, and how much of a priority a vehicle takes in their life.

I'm just sitting back laughing at both of these guys. I recognized the subtle satire in gobc's reply to stanton's backward thinking, and it got me chuckling. I agreed with his views concerning the "precious truck" in question and his explanation made a good point. But then he turns around and slams the entire forum?!?! :screwy: With only a couple of posts under his belt, either he's not the sharpest tool, or he joined the group already expecting his stay to be very temporary. It would be cool to be able to welcome a couple more guys to the forum with fresh views, but right now neither one of them has had much to say that is contibuting to this forum on a positive note.

Obviously I enjoy this forum as I visit it daily, but it would be nice to see this forum arranged a little differently, so all of this type of crap is not mixed in with the technical help and good information. I'd like to see a technical section for just that, when we are looking for help or able to offer help to someone else. It would also be great to be able to choose to visit a "lounge" portion for dumb stuff like this, or items that don't pertain to anything much other than just making conversation or sharing interesting non-truck stuff. Then also throw in a classified section where we could buy and sell some used stuff for trucks or otherwise. :2cents:

Anywho...you caught me blabbering away again, so I've got to get back to work. Happy Thursday! :iceslolan

I agree about subdividing the forum, but, the Silverado forum is already a subdivision of a much greater whole. I'm not sure they would allow us more subdivisions under our subdivision. It would be nice, though

I wondered about that. Still a helpful site, as you are not limited to just one type vehicle. Many households have different makes and models in the same garage. I've been able to get help from the Pontiac portion as well as Tahoe, etc.

Sooo... when's Martha Stewart gonna sign in!!! I can see it now, "Get those country curtains from K-Mart for your X-tra or Club Cab for those special evenings at the drive-in movies" (I wonder if there's any of those left now). Or even Martha Stewart's Better Trucking on the Discovery Channel. Oh the possibilities. Of course what we really need here is Matha's tips on a good home fix for those pesky driveway-parked car scratches!!! Ooops..full circle!!!

LoL! It's funny to me how worked up people get worked about stuff. I guess I can say that if she messes up stuff I don't feel it should come out of our joint savings account and if I mess up stuff it shouldn't come out of our joint savings account. Maybe you should step back and ask a few questions before shotting off about things. I can be mad/upset if she does something to any vehicle in our yard. I guess I'm a caveman because I don't have all my money in one account with my wife. I know she probably wanted to do other stuff with her money besides fix that truck. I know it's a truck also. My wife drives my truck all the time. She has keys to it just like me. If you look at my post I was made because she drove the truck when with tape all over the windshield from being replaced a couple hours earlier. I brought this one and can buy another one if need be and my wife has been in a wreck since we've been married and I know she could have gotten hurt in a wreck but she wasn't she hit a parked car pulling into the driveway. No matter how you look at it thats pretty funny weird to me.To goodoleboysclub stir the shit with somebody that's got time to play with you.

I've been laughing every step of the way on this thread...it's downright comical!

As far as giving marital advice, I'll pass on that. Besides, I'm sure my wife would laugh at the prospect of a dumbass like her husband trying to give it out when I could usually use a good dose of it myself. I don't think anyone really cares about your personal arrangements. I think what caused the most interest was the basic attitude that your initial post portrayed. Somewhat backward. If you start a thread, you've got to expect replies.

Look on the bright side...goodoleboy took alot of the heat off of you anyways. :loser:
