Starting problems

I have a 1989 pontiac firebird formula with the 350.... My problem is that the car starts hard, more so when its cold.. ( the car ) not the weather.. It cranks so long that i let off the key and try it again, i don't want to over heat the starter... The car had a valve job done not to long ago, along with a fuel pump and filter.. I put different fuel injectors in it.. There accel 22 or 23 lb per hr.. I know it could use a new throddle position sensor because you can feel it when you take first take off... And does anyone know how much fuel pressure there should be on the fuel rail.. I have also replaced the fuel pressure valve... And another thing the cars starts alot easier once the car is up to normal running temp.. not the greatest, it still cranks agood 10 sec, but still better then when its cold

I am assuming based on your Injectors that this is a TPI right?, So fuel pressure should be right around 36 - 41 PSI Idling/40 - 47 with Key on ignition and when was the last time you changed the cap, rotor, plugs and wires?. It sounds like its either a weak ignition or fuel pressure issue, Accel injectors are known for leaking which would cause a issue like your having and then once it started it may smoke for the first few minutes. If your able to rule out a fuel pressure/injector issue. You may want to have the car scanned to look at IAC count

When it stops raining i'll put a fuel gague on the rail and check to see how much the fuel pressure is.. I did a tune up about 5000 miles ago... Come to think about it i didn't change out the coil... i did the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.... What does iac stand for and what does it count??

IAC- is a the idle air control valve and it opens and closes to allow air to pass your closed throttle body blades. It counts open and closing per rotation to control idle or allow enough air as to allow the car to start.

I am having a similar issue with my '89 Formula and was wondering if you ever found the cause.
