Well, you could get a carbon fiber trunk, and other carbon fiber pieces. However making your car lighter isn't so much about getting things as it is taking them out. Depends on how extreme you want to go. A lot of the things that weigh a car down people don't want to take out because the car is also their everyday driver. For instance, take out your spare tire, your back seats, the passenger seat, the interior, the AC, the power steering, etc.

Lightweight battery, racing wheels, remove carpeting in trunk and interior, etc.

Lightweight flywheel. 10-15lbs lighter than stock and one of the most noticable bolt on performance mods.

Shit, you might as well take out the dash and the airbags too. Get some lightweight steelies. Screw the C/F hood, just take it off. Oh, and probably the biggest one, take out the whole sunroof assembly. That things gotta wiegh a lot. Oh, and when you take off your hood, sell it to me. :grinno:

take everything out exept the gas pedal, seat and engine.
Steer with a rudder that you move with your hand.
To stop, jump out.
Be sure to wear a helmet. :bloated:

Ummm, no. The prelude hood is heavy as hell, the C/F hood saves quite a bit of weight, maybe not the best weight reduction, but since he has it, it's well worth it.

My point was to take the hood off completely. I think, just maybe, that would save weight. Just a random thought though. Having a hood COULD be lighter than not having one. Pffff. Ummmm, no. I think not.

unless your looking to make it a race car, dont strip anything. Best bet is to get some lightweight wheels, CF hood and trunk. You can get a lightweight battery and relocate it to the trunk.

Lightweight wheels are the ultimate in weight reduction. For every 1 pound you reduce in wheel weight, you reduce 8 lbs in static weight. Say you drop 1lb from each of your wheels; you've essentially dropped 32lbs.

Yeah, nice thought. Now have you ever thought about aerodynamics? Cuz you know, tons of pro stock cars race with no hood on...oh wait, no, they all have hoods. A carbon fiber hood weighs about 13 pounds. A rule of thumb is that every hundred pounds equals about .1 second in the quarter mile. So that means, if you could even notice it, the weight would save you .01 second. Now figure air drag. The hood is there for a reason, keep it on.
