A few of you have heard my problem, but here is a recap. My civic, DX w/ MPFI swap wont rev past 3K RPM. I replaced the dizzy, because that would usualy cause that, but no luck. When i get down to about a 1/4 of a tank, the car runs like a big piece of shit, it sputters and farts, back fires, like it is runnin out of gas... I put half a tank in and it runs fine, except it wont rev past 3K rpm.

How do i check the ECU? Could it be the ECU? I pulled the intake manifold, Dizzy, ECU all from a 1.6L that ran good, except that the 1.6L had about 200K miles on it thats why i didnt just swap the whole thing, and it burned oil like a bitch. The only thing i thought was weird about the car i pulled it from was there was NO rev limiter, i put that engine at 8000 RPM! This was complely stock civic too. Maybe the ECU craped out when i was pulling it or something.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!

Also the car doesnt run good even up to 3K, its hella slow and acts like its getting to much air.

Check your fuel pressure, injectors, and fuel pressure regulator.

Maybe the ignitor/ignition coil for the stuttering problems? :dunno:

This is a long shot but:

How long has this been happening and did you just get the car? Could be water in the gas tank.

Well, i had my B18 in it for about 3 months, never had this problem, except the fuel gage is wrong, it is acually on empty when its at a 1/4 of a tank, so when it says i have a 1/2 tank of gas i acually only have 1/4 tank of gas in the car.

But the car sat for about 3 weeks, then put in the d15 w/ MPFI swap on it.

Could engine timeing do this? i checked it and it was pretty close but i dont know if it was perfect. But i was thinkin more of the ecu or something.

Yes timing will cause that.

Check your rotor button and cap or it could be that the whole dis is bad.

basicly jsut get the tune up on the engine. repalce all the parts that needs to be replaced regularly. i.e. o2 sensor, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires get the timing checked and get the injectors blown out. then go from there. also chekc the battery unless youve got a optima yellow top.
