Ok i went to work yesterday and it was cold. I got out for a minute and i had to go move my car and the door handle broke. Its still on the car but the part that opens the door is broken. How hard is this to fix and about how much will it cost?

I went to the Mitsubishi dealership and they wanted $75 for a new door handle(unpainted)
I ordered one from ebay for $25 shipped and then spent $25 having it painted.
I put it on myself and it was very aggrivating, its not hard it just takes time to get everything hooked up, there is very little space to work with. Doing it yourself with save you some cash for it is deffinatly worth it.

Well when i replaced mine last year, i got it for $25 on ebay and painted it myself with my T/U gun. Very common problem with 2g, there was a guy that was fabricating aluminum handles. And was going to sell them on ebay. I have not seen them on there yet tho, but the handles he put on his car looked sweet, i would by them if they were for sale.

Dealer in my town wanted $80, I went on ebay and found one FROM A DEALER for $66 shipped. OEM painted gloss black like my car. It's sitting at my house ready to be installed. It's getting cold outside now, so I might just give up and have the dealer install it when I take the car in for a radiator flush.

LOL This happened to me about a year ago. I needed it fixed right away since it's my daily driver, and I'm too prideful to climb in the passenger side (especially on dates! lol... long story.) I ended up buying one on eBay with overnight shipping and had the dealership throw it on and paint both handles (since I have the RS). This ended up costing $300... Honestly, I think it's worth just having the dealership do it. My ADD will prevent me from finishing any job that doesn't make a car accelerate faster or corner better. lol ...And replacing a door handle is a boring and tedious job. My :2cents:

Yeah, $300 was for the handle and painting both/installation at the dealership. It looks nice though! lol If you had to ask your date to get out of the car so you could climb in... you might pay $300, too!! Never go to the dealership...

That's when you have then pop the door from the inside to let you in to YOUR nice car. They should feel honored they get to sit in the passenger seat of a DSM.
