Rear speaker went out

Just wondering if there is a special kind of speaker that goes in the rear ....I know it has to be a certain size but am not sure where to find that info. I was hoping one of you here did.

Did you check for loose connections first? Pop out the rear speaker panel and take the speaker out to see if it's connected. If it is, then take the speaker out and check to make sure it's not blown. Use a multimeter and see if you get roughly 8 ohms of resistance on the speaker terminals.

hey its a 6x8 speaker. pioneer makes a good four way speaker. i bought mine for 75 at walmart sounds awsome

alright well instead of bragging about speakers lets get this guy some info. The rear speaker panel is really easy to remove, no bolts at all in the panel, just pop off the bottom with a screw driver and you'll see the clips on the top. If you have changed the head unit I personally wouldn't even bother with testing the speaker and everything. Whenever you install an aftermarket head unit with any power your stock speakers really arent long for this world.

If you do have the stock head unit you can test them like 8ate8 said but even then I would still replace them. The size is 6x8 OR 5x7 both have the correct mounting locations to fit. If you do buy speakers the price doesnt necessarily indicate the quality nor does the brand. Listen to the speakers before you buy them preferably listen to the same music you most often listen to (speakers with a heavier magnet usually out out more bass which is more characteristic for hip-hop or R&B). Buy the ones that sound better to you. Also when looking at the wattage of the speaker look for the RMS or peak wattage b/c that is right before the speaker starts to drop off in performance.
