fuel pump

hey there, changed the fuel pump(mechanical) car ran great 1 day, then stalled out at work(embarrassing).. found out fuel is going to carb(variable venturi) and then it is starved.. upon inspection i noticed few things
1. throttle positioner was not fully touching throttle cable
2. fuel not entering bowls
3. if i mess around in choke area the throttle positioner releases and touches the cable(good thing)

any comments besides piece o s@#t variable venturi??????
love the car just getting tired of messing around and i absolutely do not want to have to drive my wife's beetle(ghey)

Not 100% about your setup, but most ford and GM cars have a fuel filter in the carb. They are found behind a big nut in the carb where the fuel line connects to the carb. Take note of how it's placed into the carb when pulling it out.

Actually, the VV "carbs" are GREAT at metering fuel and providing very good power, economy and throttle response.

The BIG problem is like 1% of even dealership techs have any clue how to make them work properly, you just cannot repair them "seat-of-the-pants" style like you can with other things. You REALLY have to take the time and troubleshoot it properly.
