I bought a 89 lincoln cont, from a auction for $420.00 bucks.
I was despret because needed a car for work and had no money put back, and the other one the rod was ready to come through the block!!
So of course it runs. Howevere so far I've replaced the racket pinion steering "new" the power booster, that was hard to find cheap. $500.00 new, however one junk yard had the one I needed for $50.00 bucks. took it off put it on works great. Now the power booster I'm talking about looks wierd and they only put it on some models, it contains a moter, and high pressur contaner witch it only pumps the brake fluid from the reservor to the master cylinder, So for those of you out thier ever have a problem with a full pedal but will not stop you need to check that first along with the fuse!!
Now after that I noticed that the lines was not connected to the heater core, they ran them together, and it needs a new belt and when I got the car they rigged up a switch to the cooling fan!!!
also the a/c clutch is not kicking in. when I run straight power to it it kicks in... and I when I was lookin at the cooling fan to see why I have to use the switch, come to find out thier is a computer box underneath the plastic cover above the fan that has junk yard writing on it saying 91 mercury sable 3.0 ?????
My question is this must be another motor, it's a 3.8 v6.. that's what it says on the motor, however the belt diagram on that plastic cover is different from that on the motor.. also I went to the parts store to get a temp senser because the digital read out was not showing me nothing.
well they brung me one for a 89 lincoln cont, that wasn't it..
So I went back and got one for a 91 mercury sable 3.0 "works like a new one"
Now for the main question is this why my fan and a/c is no
t working like it's needs to?? my thoughts is the wiring harness might be slightly different from a lincoln and a sable if so is thier a way I can rig up somthing for the fan at least because it's a pain to have to turn that on and off!!! the a/c I'll just take it to a shop for that!!
