Ya, i wunder if i'll get banned 4 this... owell. I am about 2 turn 16 so i need a ride. I've saved up $6,000 from refing, (babysitting?) little kid hockey games, working at a restruant, and counciling at some summer camps. (wasn't easy). So now i'm looking 4 a sport compact because of the extensive aftermarket and the speed. I'm looking 4 speed, I don't really mind looks but i will be doing mod's to the car, so look 4 me in other forums asking around. anyways, i'm budgeting myself 2 $3,500 to pay 4 any repairs or mod's (hopefully). my parent's will pay 4 the insurance  so that won't be problem :naughty: . So now down 2 the car. I have been looking at the 89'-91' RX-7's for their speed and relative reliabilty (except maybe 4 the engines tendency 2 blow up). another has been the volkswagen scirocco and GTI w/ the 16V engine. not to powerful or reliable but a lot more room (to haul around humungous hockey bag). I've also looked into eagle talon TSi awd models, but not 2 extensively. i'm open to suggestions from others 2, but i will not get a honda or acura. i jus' think to many people have them, just a problem i have. i'll prolly be posting this same writing bit in some more forums, as i don't know were exactly 2 post. (hope im not a post-whore now :uhoh:) so wa, thanx in advance - Tommy

Mid 90's Golf GTI or VR6

DSM's (Eagle Talons) from what I gather have common drivetrain problems.

I'd look at an Eclipse/Talon, and with you being 16 you should stay away from the turbo models because you should really get some experience behind the wheel before jumping into a car like that. The other cars are good suggestions but aren't going to be an easy find for $3,500. You might also look at a Cavalier Z24 and Sunfire GT.

that made me laugh.

a car i was looking at was a 2nd Gen 7 with a JDM 13BTT swap into it (from the 3rd gen) but i decided (since i pay for my own insurance) that it would cost too much to pay for and maintain.

rotaries are neat little engines and put out good power and can last a long time if you know how to take care of them.... head the last part.

im not going to reccomend any cars as i have no idea what your driving experence is. i personally knew i could handle a 2400lb rwd car with 240hp because ive been driving a "performance" kart since i was 10... if you has such experence i would see no prooblem with a similar car. instead i ended up with a truck so i could haul shit and insurance is WAY better ($450 ever 6 months for almost full converage with a $500 deductible instead of the $1200 every six months i was quited on for the 7)

There are hundreds of cars you could get that have speed and aftermarket support for well under 6 g's. You didn't really specify enough information for anyone to narrow it down (i.e RWD-AWD-FWD, how fast you want it, how many doors etc.). But if you want a sport compact car with room, aftermarket support, and some speed, id go with a 2nd gen Eclipse/Talon-more room than the 1st gen at the expense of weight and might have to spend most of you 6 g's, 2nd gen prelude-lots of room, all around good car, aftermarket support, but agian prob will take up all of your 6, but you will get more money seeing as you work, also consider Subaru 2.5 RS, Galant VR4, probaly more. I persoanlly stay away from expensive to maintain german sport comapacts and they are generally more expensive to buy, their also generally less reliable, and not as much aftermarket. Your Eclispe, Lude will smoke a GTI, Corrado, Beemer 3-series anyway. I highly recomend the Lude over anything in your situation.

The 2nd gen prelude ('83-'87) does not have many aftermarket parts at all.

Are you talking about a 2nd gen lude? The 2nd gen only comes with 100hp/107tq (S model) and 110hp/114tq (Si model). they are pretty slow. a 4th or 5th gen is more comparable.

Sorry I had a little prelude generation brain fart there I meant 4th gen 92-96 H23 (160HP @ 5,800 and 156 Lb. Ft. @ 5,300) or H22 VTEC (190HP @ 6,800 and 158 Lb Ft. @ 5,500). Lot's of room, lots of aftermarket, and could beat any GTI 1.8T or 2.0T for the same price. Same goes for the Corrado. Also Could easily beat any 3-series for the same price seeing as for 6K you would have to reach back to the very early-nineties or mid eighties for a base 3-series, and for 6K you might be able to afford the oldest of old M3's. As you can see, I am not a fan of Eurocars (despite the Supercars of course) so I am biased. But I am being as official as possible

hmmm, cheap? fast? easy to mod? 5.0 mustang, if you dont mind domestics that will be the best car to fit wut your looking for. otherwise id look into 240sx's... id also stay away from anything turbo for a couple reasons, first get some experience driving, second i take it you dont have bundles of money and turbos are pricy to fix, and in my opinion unreliable.

I think that $6k would buy a damn nice 93-97 Camaro Z28 if you want all out speed and power(figure about 3-4k for the car, and if you spend the rest in performance mods, you'll easily see low 12s naturally aspirated :iceslolan ), but I'm not sure that's your cup of tea, so I would have to recommend a 300ZX(non-turbo, it should be plenty for you to handle being new to driving and all) OR if you want to do lots of modifications yourself, go for a 240SX and then either turbo the stock engine or do an SR20DET swap when you feel the need.

RWD is the way to go... unless you get tons of snow on the ground :lol2:

a prelude's a good choice. i'd recommend a 4th gen maxima too. 190hp 205 lbs of tq and 2900 lbs w/ 5 speed. they're good for low 15's, some even hit in the 14's well driven, they have plenty of room, and are known to be faster than the NA 300Z's. not to mention that there's a relatively large aftermarket available.

the z28 will be a nice choice if u can find a nice one. or personally i like the firebird a little betetr. i dont like stangs but the 5.0 is very cheap, fast, and has huge aftyermarket. another good choice would be a 3rd gen supra turbo, pretty fast and toyota reliability. a 4th gen prelude will also be a good choice or an mr2 turbo. or a 300zx is also a very good car. you should narrow it down some cause there is too many cars out there to name.
