2002 sportage AC compressor pulley

My 2002 sportage has developed a clanking noise from the AC pulley and sometimes the belt will make a sqealing noise too. I found the belt tensioner but I'm not sure if this will help. Which way does one turn the bold on the tensioner in order to tighten the belt?
