what is the normal running temperature?

I have a 2000 Sahara and I think it is running hot...around 210. Does anyone have info or a temp there wrangler runs at?

Don't touch or change anything. This is the normal operating temp of the vehicle. I have a 97 Sahara and it has run that temp since I got it in 97 with 20,000 miles on it. It now has 113,000 and no troubles.

Same here. Runs a touch below the 210 mark doing 55 mph and slightly above the 210 when I get on the interstate and do around 80 mph. Guess it is normal but would think that a slightly cooler engine temp would be better. Has anyone tried installing a 180 stat?

I wouldnt go anything lower than OEM. The machine is deigned to take a 195 degree thermostat. I wouldnt change it. Although, if it takes a 195 thermostat you would think that is what it should run at. 210 does seem to be a little high. It could be a worn out fan clutch that is not pushing max air through the radiator ( I have seen this before )

Mine runs dead at 195-200 degrees. Never higher.

All Jeeps with a 2.5 4cylinder has a high temperature thermostat in it because the air that is needed in the carberator induction system has to be that hot for the little engine to not skip. I've had people use a lesser temp thermostat and they brought it back for a skipping problem.

195 is what the tstat opens at. your temp sensor is a little closer to the block than the tstat, and so reads a little higher than the 195. i have had it this way since i bought it new in 99, and now have about 174k miles on it. no problems so far.
