how many quarts of oil go into a 2001 escape. i just did a oil change and i dumped in four quarts then checked it and it was at the fill line so i added another quart then i ran the car for a couple of minutes and checked it again and it is still showing a quart low. would it really take six quartz. i have been checking religiously for leaks and have not seen any. so i am at a loss ,unless it is that the damn oil is so light that i am just unclear where it is reading. thanx

4.5 qts. for a 4 cyl. 5.5 qts for a v6.

I would honestly run a full 6 qts in the 3.0L duratec due to spun rod bearing issues.

it looks like i will have to do 6 because i did 5 at the change and it still shows a quart low i just thought damn that cant be right. what is this about a spun rod bearing. jeez i researched the hell out of the escapes. i thought they were good read nothing but good reviews from reputable sources.

By the way, you can't get an accurate level on the oil when doing a change until you have started the vehicle and filled the oil filter. When doing an oil change you should: Drain the old oil, change the filter, plug her back up, fill with recommended amount of oil, start and look for oil pressure to come up, check oil, and top off as necessary. That's all. MM

I do alot of oil changes, they take between 5.5 and 6 quarts. Depending on how long you drain the oil, and the filters may make a diff. I allways use the Fram PH2
