Ive owned my 99 sierra Z71 for a little while, and i would like to put a intake system on it and a throttle body spacer. i already have a high flow magnaflow dual exhaust on it. which improved it a little bit, i get about 15 in the city and 20 on the highway. which i thought was really good for having the 5.3L, with 94k miles on it. I was wondering why the K&N FIPK black plastic intake system says it wont work with throttle body spacers and why the 77 polished series will? anyone? if anyone knows, it would be very much appreciated

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra. I put both a K and N FIPK of the plastic kind and a throttle body spacer on my 4.8L with Sequential fuel injection. The polished series won't work unless you can modify it to fit. I had to grind down the FIPK at the throttle body so it would "mold" close to it. It was tight against the fan shroud but did fit with the spacer. But the fan hit the FIPK, so I rigged spacer washers between the fan and where the fan connects to the clutch. I threaded it as far as I could without the fan coming off and also missing the FIPK. I also put loctite of the sieze kind the one that will hold pulleys on. So if I ever need to replace the fan or something I will have a hell of a time getting it off. There was enough room under the shroud towards the radiator that the fan would easily miss the radiator. I did notice a torque and horsepower gain with increased fuel economy. I also used a Granatelle MAF sensor for cold induction. The truck screams. Headers are next. I already had dual exhaust. Good Luck.
