Would this be the right turbo?

I am not looking for anything big, yet. I just want something to learn with for now. But I have been reading through the custom turbo pages, and have seen what they use. Most say a DSM T25 turbo works great. Well, I bid on this turbo here. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1828005000&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1021839989&indexURL=0&rd=1) That one should work right? I think it will, and it looks like it will. So any insight would be great.

I have two of those, haven't been able to use it yet but it should work alright. I haven't found correct wheel measurments for it yet but I'm really interested to know how it compares to a T-25. You can expect fast spool up but someone what limited power in upper RMP, It was built for a dodge. When I was first looking at mine I was like "this thing kinda sucks huh!?" but I'm in the same boat as you, just want something to work smoothly and give a little extra kick. Its not like I'm stuck with this thing for life...there will be others:D What manifold are you gonna use?

Cool deal. I guess I will get it to see. :D
I am looking around for a Hf manifold to see how that will work. Since it's so cheap, it can be a learning process for bigger and better. ;)

it should work beautifully. might take a little custom rigging to get it in right (ive never installed a mitsu) but it will give you some nice power. should spool up real fast too..like 2200rpms, maybe less.
it should be good for around 12-15psi. i know the TD05 gives around 20

I've got a HF manifold too. I didn't really wanna go that route, rather use a std manifold, or a real turbo manifold, but they are to expensive. Either way I'd have to get an adapter plate. it'll be a while before I get mine put on, but I've come up with a good adapter designe. Have you talked to any machine shops? If we could sorta get a "group buy" going on, we might be able so save some money.

what is an HF manifold?
and here is how i feel about the T-2small. IT SUCKS. the factory turbo'd eclipses come with in the 95-99 years. Think to yourself, why does evey one with an eclipse want to change the out the turbo? it has absolutly NO top end. it will spool up quick but thats it. I have the Super 16g, and it hits 5psi before 3 grand and it has great top end and it is good for 12 second 1/4 mile times.
If you don't mind the lack of top end then get it. but you may as well get something better then have to buy another turbo later.
but remember, it is your choice, and only yours, don't let someone else infulence you about it. also you should check out some dsm sites and learn a little more about the turbo.

were not using the t-25, were using the TEO4H. I said I was interested in knowing how it compared to the T-25 'cause there is a lack of info on the 4H and it is similar to the T-25, and yes I know the T-25 sucks.

You can't compare how a turbo will work on 2 very different motors. The DSM motor is a 2.0 and the Hondas are 1.6. I have a T-25 on my ZC powered Civic and I am putting 160 HP and 152 TQ at the wheels. That was at 6lbs of boost. As soon as I get my boost controller I will be taking it up to 10lbs. Not bad for a bunch of homeade and junkyard parts.:sun:

The T-25 is an ok turbo but not really worth the time or money. Just go ahead and get a 14b tdo5. The T-25 is good but way to small you will get tired of it quick. Plus with the 14b you can run up to 20 psi of boost where as the t-25 I wouldnt take over 8 or so.

Isn't the 16g turbo a modified td05?

I made the mistake of putting a stock cluch in my car when I did the ZC swap. I can tell you 160 HP on a stock clutch is not a good idea. I just got a CM stage 2 and have to get that installed before I take it to the track. The T-25 on my car runs at 6lbs with the stock acuater. I just installed a boost controller and now I am running 10lbs. I am going to get back on the dyno to see how much more power I have at 10 lbs. Don't let people tell you the T25 can't make any power. They work just fine.:D
PS 20lbs?? how many of you guys have a motor that will take 20lbs:flipa:

Ok I will still say the T-25 isnt worth the money. 6 psi isnt even worth it. whats that like low 15's in the 1/4. With a 14b a v-afc and a msd btm you can run arount 11 to 12 psi. Running 20 psi you just need a bottom end really. Spend some money about 2000 dollars get some good pistons and rods and upgrade a few things like your bov and of course use DSm 450CC injectors. Spend the extra money and get a 14b or eventually you will get it if you are serious about import drag racing.

Low 15's???? I run low 15's with NO turbo and mild mods, I would guesstimate low 14's at 6psi with a good driver behind the wheel. You've got to remember that where 6psi won't do much to the 4G63 it will make a D16A6 scoot, especially in a light car.

I know what your saying when my civic was non turbo, no nitrous I was runnig low 15's with a D16. The reason why I still say low 15'S how many realy good" drivers do you know. Someone who goes from a 120 hp d16 civic to a 180 turbo civic isnt gonna be able to drive all that well at least for awhile. With a turbo its a whole new driving experience. I am in now way saying that the T-25 is a bad turbo it is just my opinion. A few of my frineds run the t-25. 2 of them have already gone to the 14b though cuz it had more potential.

Last year I ran mid 14s at 95 MPH on street tires, slipping clutch and no intercooler with 6lbs of boost on a T-25. I hope all you guys think think the T-25 is no good. Then I can buy them alot cheaper. This year I have a FMIC, boost controller cranked up to 10lbs and will be installing a stage 2 clutch soon. I will let you know how this " T-to small " runs this year.:D

Well, here is a quick update.
As for going with something small, that's what I want. I dont want to jump right in with the biggest, best, most expensive parts right now. I want to learn by starting small, and boosting low. Then as time goes by, and money is saved, I will work on a bigger turbo setup, and a bigger motor. See, us married people have other things to worry about than going fast. :) I also have my G20 that I am working on as well. So a backyard setup for my civic will work great for me.
Now, for the parts I have picked up. This weekend I picked up the header for a bank draining $9.00 :) and the turbo off a Mitsu. Conquest. My other options were the turbo's off the Saab's. The turbo's off the Lebaron's are put in a very bad location to try and pull in a junkyard. The turbo I pulled may be tricky to make an adapter plate for, since it only has three studs on the exhaust side. :( I may even end up ditching it for another turbo. But I will see on that. Right now I am searching for more info on this turbo, so if anyone knows of a any good sites on them, let me know. :)
edit: maybe I am looking at this wrong, here are pics of the same turbo I have. This should work right?

It should work fine. You will have to make a custom flange for the exhaust, or get the pipe that was on there and saw the flange off that. Then you can use it to make a custom downpipe. Good luck an have FUN:D
