It's been a long time sence DOS wasn't responding for me. Try Ctrl + C or the Esc key. Then type the command "mem /c | more" to see whats going on with your conventual memory.

16 bit operating system. before the more user frendly grafical user interfaced 32 bit window OS. Don't you reamber Dos v2.22?? I use to write batch files like a mofo, not to mention editing my Autoexec.bat & config.sys to make my 8meg 256mhz 486 run betrail at krondor. I miss that game.
Goto your Run command in the Start menu. Click on it. Thats Windows command line interface that runs in 32bit mode, it also runs in a protection shell that provents a program outside of the kernal from hanging up your system. You know that ALT + CRT + DEL?? allowing you to "end program" Yeah, dos didn't have that.
Anyway, Thats what dos looked like. before microsofts attempt at a file extention table operting system win 3.1 then 3.11 then onto 32 bit OS 95, 98 exc. Basicly everything is being run behind the sceens now, and you only get to controle things through windows insted of at the front line. Its more user frendly now, I still like using the CMD, just because I know all the command lines from dos. That and I use alot of Linux.
