new clutch and flywheel question

i have to get a new clutch pretty fast

im getting an ACT 2100. what is the difference between a 4 puck 6 puck and street plate on those clutches. which one do i need? and i want to get a new flywheel, do you think this is a good idea, if so what kind should i get?

You definitely do not want a pucked disc unless you really know what you are getting into. They are tranny breakers, even with light pressure plates. I would suggest the street disc. I ran a 2600 with that disc into the low 11s, others have done better. I had my issues with them, but its a good clutch. I run something similar in the EVO. Same street disc with a 3000 pound plate.

I'm a big fan of the stock flywheel, machined properly. The ACT flywheel is nice too and comes pre setup for a ACT clutch. No personal experience with Aluminum FWs, so I can't comment on the other brands. Stay away from lightened stock flywheels.

not this previous summer but the summer before that, last year, my clutch was replaced and so was my throwout bearing

my mechanic tells me my throwout bearing messed up causing my clutch springs to mess up etc

how long should a throwout bearing last?

Generally they last somewhere in the 6 figures for mileage. But they should be changed with every clutch job just because you're in there already and they're cheap.

Edit> Riding the clutch or an improperly adjusted master can cause premature TOB failure and wear the fingers on the clutch.
