Last saturday my son was driving my 1990 blazer, and the thing over heated on him and died. i had it towed over to the gass station and one of the men looked at it. He said since it over heated it needed new Barrings and New rods..
so i drove it home it ran fine other then some noise, but when i got home 8miles away from the gass station it died on me and i had real troubles getting it to start. i finaly did backed it up and parked as i was putting it into park it died once more.
before it died i looked at theoil pressure and it was at 0. Do you think its the oil pump? and if so how much money would it cost to replace one

Hopefully thats all it is, but the continued driving of a vehicle with 0 oil pressure will most certainly cause the engine to seize, most likely breaking the crankshaft.

How much money do you think it would cost to put new rods and new barrings would be plus the oil pump

Alright thanks i just got the pricing on the oil pump and its 22$ and the labor is 330. I know this is extremly hard quesiton to Answer but how much more would it cost for them to put new rod bearings on the engine i live in ND

Unfortunately I can't really answer that question, it is pricey though, they labor charges will be most likely outrageous

Your rods are probably fine.
But here's the bad part.
If your lucky you only damaged the bearings, and the crank shaft.
You'll have to get oversized bearings, and the crank machined to match these new bearings.
I would sugest that you look for a good used motor because that one will probably have problems unless you completely rebuild it.
Besides it must have overheated for a reason.
The good news is that you can probably get a used motor for a fair price, and you and your son should be able to change it over the weekend.
It'll probably be a good father son project for you
