I had a great set of tools, mostly things I got from my father. I could do almost anything on my car with what I hadon hand...sadly, my stash got stolen. My car hasnt needed much work in the time since that has happened - until now. A coworker (who also tinkers with VW's) offered to help me with replacing my generator with an alternator. With more than half the work left to do he has decided to not help me with the rest....I need some tools so I can finish this job.

There are lots of tight squeezes for removing bolts and such, lots of small spaces...I dont have anything to compare it to, Ive never worked on a car other than my vw. I dont know where to look first for tools.
What is your favorite maker, and do you think there are any tools that I just certainly have to have? Keep in mind I am looking to have a fairly comprehensive set here.

You cant beat the master sets at Sears.Cheaper by the set,and warrantied for life.Harbor Freight has inexpensive tools, but beware the quality.
