has anyone thought about or have taken the 90 degree bend out of thier intake manifold? you know the part right after where the throttle body bolts up.

so its doable? and do you think its worth the effort?

so its doable? and do you think its worth the effort? If you have the means, then by all means. It does eliminate the 90° bend which is better for airflow.

I have seen adapters to put 1st gen TB on 2nd Gen Sohc manifold. I would think that would take less effort and you wouldn't have to break anything to do it.

im doin it as i type, thanksAre you gonna eliminate the EGR also?
I have seen adapters to put 1st gen TB on 2nd Gen Sohc manifold.Where and what if you have a DOHC intake manifold? Why would you downgrade?

I didn't see in the post if you have Sohc or Dohc.
Cutting your manifold up and welding it (dohc) or cement/gluing it (sohc) sounds like a risk of it not working when you are done (broken) to me.

and post picsThat's what I will be waiting for...I want to see your fab work! Are you gonna port and polish the manifold while you have it off?

yes im pnp myself but i want to get the welding done first, das you said you cut yours before what did you cut it with?

yeah I have been thinking about doing the same thing, I just got a turbo that Im doing a custom setup with and I would really prefer a horizontal TB rather than vertical. I had also thought about choping off the runners, not compleatly but just make them shorter. I had been woundering if this would create problems. I have no problem doing the work, but will this affect the MAP sensor, or give unequal pressures in the runners?
by the way,.......first gen(97)
, sohc

I had also thought about choping off the runners, not compleatly but just make them shorter. Why would you want them shorter? You would be killing your low end torque. If you want to try something, put a magnum intake on your SOHC, then eliminate the 90° bend, then put your turbo on it! The magnum intake breathes better than your SOHC intake as the the magnum manifold has two sets of runners rather than one the base SOHC offers. The primary set of runners are longer than the secondary runners to promote low end tourque. The secondaries are shorter to give extra air to the engine faster at higher rpm.

yeah i agree and i wish the magnum parts worked on the dual. the head is awsome those parts are the only reason i would buy a sohc. but i have a dohc

They are both rated at 150HP, but you can always make more power with the DOHC.

yeah your right, I dont really know what I was thinking I wasnt really in the best state of mind at the time, lol. but yeah does it mater what magnum I got the intake off of. and does it bolt right up?
