Rough running until warm - head gasket

Bought a ’93 Continental a few weeks ago and not long after it developed what felt similar to a miss for about 3-5 minutes after start-up. Basically running really rough. Once the engine warmed up it would run great. Turns out it’s a head gasket blown. The moisture getting into a cylinder or more is causing poor or no combustion in those cylinders until it dries out. No coolant smell in the exhaust that I could detect, however.
I plan to change both gaskets myself according to instructions from AutoZone and Hayes Manual. Is there anybody on here who has changed the head gaskets in a 3.8? I’m looking for any inside advice on things to be aware of and cautious about. Thanks!
