Has anyone installed the K&N FIPK on an 8.1? I have a 2004 2500HD that I would like to add this to and I was wondering if there are any modifications necessary. Is the MAF sensor affected?
Thanks

I have a 2002 2500HD, 8.1, allison trans, crew cab full box.
Installed the K and N kit about 6 months ago (pd about $220). Nice difference in sound and low end pull. No significant increase in gas mileage.
What happens to me is when I open it up at low speeds, my ses light comes on. Went to the dealer 3 or 4 times. The code was always the maf sensor.
I posted a thread on this forum. Finally, a tech at my dealer told me that due to execssive oil applied at the factory on the new filter, the added vacumm pulls a little of this oil through the element and collects on the maf, which triggers a the ses light.
Not a major problem, just annoying. The light goes off after a while.
I recently cleaned the filter and did not re-oil it.
I'll see what happens.
I'm thinking about removing the maf screen.

By the way, the kit bolts right in. No modificatios are needed.
Just watch the clearence between the fan shroud and the new intake tube.

Yea, I know.
I want to see if it stops triggering the ses light.
