How reliable is AutoZone?

I'm having a prob with battery alternator complex... My car wouldn't start without a jump and when shut off wouldn't start again without another jump. I took the alternator out and went to AutoZone and they tested it and it was fine. So I take it back and reinstall it and decide to just take my car to the zone for testing the battery. After the jump and on the drive up there I guess I fixed a bad connection because it began to work fine. I could start it alone and it was perfect. That was a week and a half ago and now it is doing the same thing again. Could I still have a bad connection still? Was AutoZone right about the alternator? Do I just need a new battery...? Thanks and sorry for the long ass explanation.

Is there corrosion around the battery terminals?

That is what it sounds like to me. Just clean up the connections man and it should be fine. Get a wire brush to knock all the corrosion and or grease/dirt whatever it may be.

Also, an easy way to clean off the corrosion without all that green crap flying all over the engine bay, is with a can of Pepsi. Pour some in a cup and then dip the battery terminal in the soda. Allow it to sit a couple of minutes, rinse with water, dry and reattach.

I'd go with Coca Cola it is more potent.

Pop is pop, you could use root beer if you wanted and it would do the same damn thing. It's the acid that counts, every pop has it.

I know but some pops have a higher concentration of acidic contents. I'm pretty sure Coke has the highest too. That is why I said that. Don't get all bent out of shape it isn't like im promoting I don't even drink pop. Geez

I've always found a lot of baking soda with a little water to eat corrosion right up. I'm not completely sure, but I don't think you are supposed to turn a batt upsidedown. Then when it's all clean add a little petroliem jelly on the terminals to keep it from corroding again.

I was talking about the battery terminal not the battery post.
