oil leak

I am searching for info on an oil leak in my '93 Z34, have been told could be in 2 places, i.e. engine oil cooler9am looking for location of said unit) & a .29 mm o-ring where the distributor used to be. Any info on both would help me considerably

Oil cooler lines (if it has it, I doubt it) would come off the engine at the oil filter, and go to the cooler.

The distributor block off plate and o-ring are on the top of the motor towards the driver's side, the throttle plate and related stuff might be hiding it. Try looking from behind with a mirror.

Oh, you said Z34, it may have an oil cooler, yes.

Oil pressure switch is another possibility. Don't know where it is on the 3.4. Try AutoZone's parts location guide on their site.

oil pressure switch is right next to the oil filter on the front of the block, just like a 3.1. The o-ring is a little harder to get to on the 3.4 DOHC, but it is in the spot Jeff said. I would bet it is what is causing your leak, as it is a VERY common problem on all GM 60 degree V-6's. Fel-pro part# 70800 for the o-ring, 70194 on the flat gasket (extra insurance against future leaks).

It is the O ring for the oil pump drive.I do remember the back Cylinder head has to come off to get it out and it is a big job and you need the special tools from Kent Moore to set the timing marks when putting it back together.

yes, the o-ring is for the oil pump drive, and if you put the paper gasket on between it and the block, it will virtually guarantee it won't leak again. I've never done one on a DOHC, but I don't believe you have to remove a cylinder head to get to it, anyone know for sure?

Fel-Pro O-ring is not what I would recommend. go to gm parts counter and get original part and paper gasket....fel pro o-ring is a bit thinner, yea the GM parts cost more but you only want to do this once.

Actually, the fel-pro o-ring is made of a better quality material that won't shrink or harden, causing another leak. I work at a Delco Distributor, and feel the Fel-pro is a better piece
