Can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is on an '01 Focus Wagon SE with the 2.0 Zetec engine. Been watching these threads and sense it might be a good idea to change it.

It's under the car, towards the gas tank.

Mine is located under the car, just in front of the passenger side rear wheel.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll keep you posted as to the outcome of this. The Fords I've known have been, yeah under the car. Sounds like I need to back the car up onto some ramps and have a look. I have the special tools to do this and could also take it to a shop but it just seems more efficient to do it yourself. I want to cut it open to check for the amount of dirt as well @ 25,000 miles.

dude...ok...it's under the rear of the vehicle, just infront of the gas tank, it is recognizeable by the arrow indicating the direction of flow.

Okay guys, first of all thanks to everyone for all the help! It was exactly where you said it would be. In front of the gas tank, rear passenger tire side. Backed the wagon up a pair of ramps, laid down some cardboard and there it was. Picked up a NAPA Gold fuel filter, $15.92 here in Hawaii and the only difficult part was the nut holding the bracket was kinda tucked up there. I needed a 6" extension for the socket. Had to adapt around 3/8 to 1/4 but got it to work. Before cutting the old filter open I did notice much more restriction when blowing through the old one versus the new one. Used a large diameter copper tubing cutter to open 'er up and found no large dirt particles but a lot of super ultra fine stuff that was definately the reason for the restriction. Car did feel like it was choked for gas. Well, buttoned her all up and took her on the road and the difference was like night and day. No more lag, and positive acceleration when pressing the gas. Maybe not supercharger difference, but a definate improvement. :smokin:
