Transmission fluids poured into engine

I am new here and by mistake last night I asked someone to hand me a quart of oil to pour in and they handed me a quart of transmission fluid.

Because it was dark I poured about 1/3 of it into the engine. Can I drive it to a mechanic to get it drained or I shouldn't move it at all.

Please help.

Thanks.

If you were just topping up for oil used, the amount you put in likely won't do any harm when mixed with the rest of the oil. It would likely be easier on your mind to change the oil sooner than later tho. It won't hurt to drive it to a shop to have it done.

Frankly you can leave that 1/3 quart in there for good.
An old tune up trick was to add a full quart of trans fluid to the engine oil after an oil change. The trans fluid has lots of detergents in it which would dissolve sludge deposits over a couple thousand miles and clean up the inside of the engine.

1/3 quart will do no harm at all. If you are truly worried, its perfectly safe to drive it to a mechanic.

Thank you very much you have been of great help. I was worried that I would damage something within the Jeep.

Years ago my dad use to pour tranny fluid in small amounts down the carbuerator and revving up the motor as you poured it to loosen up carbon deposits also it won't hurt anything!!!!
