questions about wiring harness

I'm installing a Clarion HU and have a few questions about wiring.
On the GM wire harness: positive dimmer wire, whats that?
The GM harness uses the same gauge for all the wires. On the Clarion, however, the Ground and 12v Power wires are about 2-3 times thicker. Will that cause any problems? I suppose the power would be coming in through the GM harness with the thinner wires and going into Clarion's thicker wires, so I suppose it wouldn't be an issue.
Also, anyone who's installed their own aftermarket HU, why is the GM mounting kit such a piece of junk? I have yet to figure out how to mount the Clarion to it. This is suppose to be the easy part.

I just installed a Pioneer deck in my 95 GTP. I had 3 wires I was confused about, I got all the main ones hooked up. I HAD the deck installed in my 89 GMC Van and the same wires weren't hooked up. The dimmer wire being one of them, which I don't mind, I don't want mine to dim, and the power antenna being another, I will go back in and hook that up when I have time.
As for your power lines, I noticed the exact same thing, and mine works fine, infact it sounds a lot better than the factory deck did.
As for the mounting kit, the one I had was easy to use, went together great. The only part that confused me was my deck would slide freely in the bracket, then I noticed some tabs on the metal sleeve that snaps onto the deck itself. Just bend the tabs out and it holds the deck in place on the plastic mounting face. Not sure if thats what your having problems with or not. The part that killed me about the mounting hardware was that my deck is about 1/4 inch too deep, so now it sticks out the front by 1/2 an inch. :banghead: And to think, it was going to look so nice mounted flush. Maybe I will go in behind it under the dash with the dremel and make it fit right. If you would like I can find out the name of the company that made my mounting hardware and I can post later on when I get home. (I'm at work)

mine sticks out like 1-2 inches. which is kinda good though, cause of the A/C vents I need the room for the monitor to flip out.
