German motorsport specialist Reiter Engineering has revealed an initial look at its Lamborghini Gallardo sports car.

The 500-plus hp car is being developed for entry in the GT3 category of international sports car series as either four-wheel or two-wheel drive. The image, taken in the early stages of development, clearly shows the distinctive Lamborghini styling of the Gallardo.

Reiter reports it has already received orders and further considerable interest from privateer customers, and the finished product will be available in February. Further technical details on the race car will be available over the next two months, while a street version of the Gallardo GT3R will follow within the next month.

Last weekend the first derivative of the proposed Gallardo GT3 Race successfully completed a two-day shakedown test in the hands of the newly founded Lambo-Racing customer team. The 4WD car was developed and built by Reiter Engineering at the customer’s request.

It will race in the FIA GT Championship's new GT3 class.

In your personal opion u think it will flop like the Murc? I loved that car just had to little backing. The z06 vettes are just to seasoned although i give credit to saleen this year they have came on by leaps and bounds.

It seems that the new GT3 class will be very competitive and the Gallardo is smaller than the Murcielago R-GT.

The Corvette C6-Rs will be difficult to beat in ALMS and Le Mans next year.

The Murecellago had PLENTY of financial backing. The big problem was development issues. they had a problem braking upper front control arms that presented itself in very high load high speed corners. It first popped up at Mosport, and they were never able to get the problem solved.

The Saleen got to run a larger restrictor plate in 2005 than they had in 2004, and they may have gotten a weight break as well. That's the primary reason the Saleen was more competitive this year.

I would be astounded if the race version of the Gallardo is 4WD, as unless the rules have changed for 2006, 4WD is not legal in any of the major top level road racing series.

WRC is why I specified "Road Racing" series in my previous post.

wow that looks nice. I seriously hope they don't kill it like the Murcielago R-GT.

looks pretty cool, and about that whole wrc racing thing. do you know of anyone who would want to race a $300,00)+ car in the mud and possibly crash it? I thought so, it'd be sweet to see. hell, if i had the money i'd do it, but i don't (17) so i can't.
