oil pressure gauge problem

the oil pressure gauge in my 93 regal GS just started acting goofy when i accelerate, it shoots up to 120 psi and is very twitchy, seems like an electrical problem but i cant seem to find/get at the wire for it.. when i'm at idle it stays steady at under 40 psi and when im cruising at 60 in overdrive with little gas pedal pressure it maintains a steady psi at a little above 40psi, but any constant acceleration or off the line it jumps to 120 + psi and is very twitchy.. this just started happening.. also the oil level is good and all other gauges are showing normal operation, although the volt gauge gets twitchy a bit when i hit the brake pedal. could the gauge be going bad or perhaps the wire is shorting, it's definitely tied to the acceleration / gas pedal. any suggestions ? :banghead:

Sounds like the oil pressure switch is bad.
