97 starts, then stalls

I recently had the power steerin pump changed by a friend of a friend, and now my car will start, but it will not stay running. It will idle real bad, then stall out. Only way to keep it running is to keep revin it up. I asked the guy if he possibly put the wires on wrong.. He insists he marked those on both ends and the firing order is correct. It appears everything is where it belongs. I can't hear air seeping out anywhere. I can't afford to send the car to a shop. Any suggestions please...

id start with the idle air control valve.
