Im very impatient, i got a used panasonic mp3/sirius ready cd player on ebay, instead of waiting to get a clip on thing that goes to the factory harness, i cut the plugs of and stripped all the wireswhich by the way, sucked....i found some sort of an install thing on the internet, but it doesnt say what to do with all the wires, now i cant get power to the cd player and the lights for my gauges arent working...there are no blown fuses anywhere, i checked that first....can anyone help? please ????

You can find out what the harness wires were at this post.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will account for you dash or gauge issues. You might have cut something else in the dash that was related to that.

K, thanks for the info, i think it was a great step in the right direction.
On the grey plug the pin #s are....
1. pink - constant +12v
2. red/white - accessory +12v
3. orange/white - illumination +12v
4. yellow/black - not used
5. blue/red - frount right negative
6. brown/red - front left negative
7. empty
On the black plug the pin #s are....
1. blue/orange - right rear negative
2. brown/blue - rear left negative
3. violet - front right positive
4. green - front left positive
5. blue/white - rear right positive
6. brown/yellow - rear left positive
7. green/red - AMP remote
My one question is what to do with th orange wire, up there is says it is used for illumination, but there is nothing to match it up to on the wiring harness for the panasonic ... should i put it with the red? the yellow? or just leave it be? oh also my gauge problem was a fuse, in the dark last night i couldnt tell, thanks again for all the help -Jonny

Too late for you, but I was told by a dealer never to cut the harness off, always use an adapter. If you short some of the wires or connect them incorrectly you can damage the body control computer and render your vehicle next to useless until you fix your wiring and buy a new controller (big $$). Dealers are sometimes over dramamatic, but I took his advice and bought the $10 adapter.

I think what you are saying is that the radio lights up without the orange/white wire being connected? I believe that some radios are lit by the switched power, if yours is one of those then I would say, cap it or tape it off and it will not be used. Some radios have the dim function for when you turn the parking or headlights on, the radio display dims, that was the original function of the o/w wire.
