'97 Ignition switch woes, again?

Went to start the truck last night. First thing I noticed when I turned the
key to "on" was no fuel pump priming noise. Looked at the gauges, and noticed that the gas gauge was pegged way beyond the full mark, and the oil pressure gauge was also pegged way beyond the 80psi mark. Checked all the fuses, no blown ones.
Can't get the tranny out of park either with the iginition "on"

Last year I had the switch replaced with a new GM unit in August. Switch failed 20 + miles from home, had it towed to my local repair shop, I'm not happy. At least this time the truck is at home.
Going to Autozone today to pick up a Wells unit, hope I have better luck with it.

Bought and installed the switch from Autozone. Still no start.
Wells has the same unit that GM/Chevy sells.
Ohmed out all the fuses, they're OK.
Dumped gas down the TB, no fire. Fuel pump doesn't hum when igition switch is in "on" position. Can't take transmission out of park while switch is in "on".Stuck a timing light on #1 cyclinder, no spark.
Any thoughts?

Had the truck towed away 2 days ago, I had no other things my limited knowledge would let me try.
After sitting in my local mechanics shop undergoing diagnostics for over 6 hours in a 2 day period, it seems to be the ECM/PCM crapped out. I'll find out later today if that's the problem once he get's the rebuilt unit in.
(there goes my retirement fund and the kids college fund)

It usually isn't the pcm/ecm....the igntion switch goes bad, making problems look like it is the pcm...you can get one (pcm) from a boneyard
for about $50.00. Ignition switch is about $95.00, but be prepared for what is coming if you try to replace it yourself.

Jiggle your battery connections and try to start the truck. Sounds like poor connection on positive terminal.

Never had any electrical connection problems.
The problem was similar to the Ignition switch failure common on '97s,
except I had dash lights and the gauges worked. That's why I replaced (again)the Ignition switch. Engine cranks, but no spark and fuel pump didn't run.
It was the ECM/PCM.

It was the PCM this time. I put a brand new switch in it before I had it towed off because the switch wasn't the problem.
I ended up getting a remanufactured unit from NAPA because the truck is in pretty good shape with on 40,000 miles. (The local bone yard wanted $100.00 for a used unit, the remanufactured was $190 plus $125.00 to flash the memory)
