h23 dropped in accord - newbie question

I have a 91 accord (inherited so to speak) with an h23a1, headers, intake, weak exhaust that is loud enough (but weak) that the LE is always saying is too loud. Am I better off getting a cheap quiet exhaust and saving up for an H22 drop in and going from there or trying to work with the H23. I am new to this (I can hear the no sh*t's from the gallery already) but I would like to spend my money as well as possible, not have a garage full of metal I can only unload in egay for half what I pay. I hear or read that the H22 DOHC is like 60HP up from the H23 and that alone would be better than this H23 which I have no idea how hard it has been abused....would like to build a daily sleeper since the daily I have now is about to hit the hay in favor of the fzr600--gas you know....

Thanks in advance for any advice.......

save up and do the JDM h22 swap. You wont regret it.

Go fot the H22 if you want to stay all motor. If you have any serious plans about turboing, build up the internals on the motor you have, and turbo away.

I haven't taken this to a track and timed it yet. The exhaust is way loud and I think that that has gotten a few (5 or 6) guys to come up and challenge me ( revving at red lights and hauling ass up to me from behind then dropping back then coming up fast again) and every time I have went with it and have not lost yet (maybe cuz I don't worry much about tix (since my bro in law is a cop here). The last one was a mustang with custom exhaust at least (maybe more but don't know since I didn't talk to them cuz I didn't want to wait for them to catch up). When I got the car the intake was out so I replaced with a short ram. My guess is that a lot of work has been done build-up wise.

Should I get a good mechanic to open it up and tell me what has been done or go ahead and look for a turbo to put on (assuming the internals have been built up already) and see how it goes? If so, what would be a good turbo to go with? I have already dismissed GReddy - I want a kit that comes with everything if I am gonna drop 4000-6000 for it. AND is there anything I need to watch after the install to make sure the HP increase is not ripping the motor and/or tranny to shreds?

Thanks everyone!

Edit for shpellling....

Fuck the h23 and get a JDM H22.

with all the posts you have here and not hardly anyone flaming you I have to take your word for it - I am looking at one of these http://www.dh-racing.com/motors.html... what do you think?

I'd just a JDM H22 and mod it yourself, but thats your choice.

And sarazin, go to pp.com (preludepower) and search the 2nd GEN section, theres a member thats putting a B18 in his, so it would be pretty close to the same, search it up.
