hello
a friend of mine has a 1999 ford escort zx2 which has about 94000 miles.
i just recently did a tune up, gas filter, pcv valve, and cleaned the fuel injectors. The car sits at a light or stop sign and it runs really rough. Not sure what the problem may be? Anybody have any ideas.
drop me a line
thanks
dave

Let me guess, it shakes really bad but if you give it a little gas it smoothes out?
Well, it's been an ongoing problem with the ZX2. There are some updated engine mounts you can change, with some body bolts with updated rubber washers. It will help but it will not take the total shake away.
You can try also try updating the car's computer (PCM recalibration). That might help a little too. You can also try changing out the IAC(idle air control) valve. And cleaning the carbon out of the intake/throttle body. Use 3M throttle plate cleaner. Finsh with a blast of shop air, so it won't backfire. If there is a lot of carbon in the intake don't be surprised if it smokes for a bit.
