CV joint problems or steering?

I have a clicking noise when I shimmy the steering wheel back and forth while in drive. There is no noise while in park. I can actually feel the clicking and faintly hear it. It seems to be coming from the drivers side. Is this CV problems or would it be rack and pinion? The CV boot does not appear torn on either side.

And this problem would be happening to what year Rodeo?

is it in 4wd when you are doing it? Does it have manual or auto locking hubs?
