Hello all,

I have just build an OBD2 interface device using an AVR microcontroller running at 7MHz speed, specifically for Lumina and other chevrolet Models (VPW Protocol based) which is 100% compatible with ELM Obd2 Chip but, with a lot faster baud rate.

I have started to commercially build the device and sell it cheaper then ELM device so, if any of you guys wants to buy it then please let me know.

There are bunch of PC based softwares which are free available and are 100% compatible with the device availble on the net.
some of them are:
1. Scantool (www.scantool.net)
2. Digimoto Lite (www.digimoto.com)
3. OBD-II Scanmaster (www.wgsoft.de)
4. OBD-2 ELM (http://www.geocities.com/huffyfire/obd2/index.html)
5. pyOBD (http://www.donour.com/cars/pyobd/) MAC and LINUX
and many more...

Also this device is capable of connecting to PocketPC with a specially ordered cable and the free software are:
1. OBD Gauge (http://www.qcontinuum.org/obdgauge/)
2. Scantest (http://www.geocities.com/a_ser_files/)

Please note that you can use this device and record all the device or requested sensor data while you are driving and also you can have a digital dashboard of your vehicle using the above software and the interface.

Please let me know if you guys got any questions.
my website with more details of the interface and free softwares will be online with the next week.

Thanks and best regards

Note to Admin: i know that its not ebay...but, there are lot of guys who need a complete solution and cannot pay that much for it (i was one of them). so, from my side, its more of helping other out rather then making money.

Nice, how much are you asking for this tool?

Is it possible to record your RPM and speed for an entire drive and then transfer that data to your computer to check for any abnormalities? if so i might just love you :D

I am selling this device with all the cables required (obd2 and RS232) and a CD full of free software listed above in $79 + shipping in USA via UPS which will be (i think) $6. this does not include cable for Pocket PC coz any1 who wants to use his pocket pc have to tell me the model of his pocket pc so that i can make the cable for him. its custom made and different for almost all pocketpc.

and Yes, this device can record the following major PID's while you are on the road which you can use for furthur diagnoses:
1. Calculated Load Values
2. Coolant Temperature
3. Short term fuel trim
4. Long term fuel Trim
5. Intake Air Pressure
6. Engine RPM
7. Vehicle Speed
8. Ignition timing advance
9. Air Temperature
10. Throttle Position
11. Oxygen Sensor 1
12. Oxygen Sensor 2

and all the rest of the PID's which are supported by make/model.
Other then that, you can also check the codes if they exist and erase them (if you want to).

Becase of this device, i fixed a problem of a little hesitation on ~50 m/h caused by O2 sensor 2... there was no code for it but the readings was not right.this is just one example of how helpfull it can be.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards

wow, that is a great price, I was considering buying one for 90 bux back when, and that was without the software to go with it. Then my laptop took a shit. I assum a laptop is required, what is the minimum system specs? And then what are the recommended specs? Thankyou.

The minimum PC specs is equal to any system which can run minimum Windows98 coz the maximum speed of this interface is 115200, which, even a Pentium 1 is capable of giving...coz all the com-ports are that speed.

but, if you have atleast Pentium 3 laptop then its more then the requirement, with atleast 128MB ram and about 5 GB free space.

for the PocketPC users, the minimum is a pocketpc capable of runing windows mobile 2003 with atleast 3MB of space to store program files.

if your laptop does not have com port then you need a small converter which is a USB to RS232, which will make a com-port out of usb and its availble at any store like CompUSA,Microcenter,Frys,Costco and bunch of others in about $15.

I don't imagine its possible to rig one of these up to use the serial ports on a Macintosh PowerBook model, eh? Aside from the lack of software, which I'm sure could be ported, what kind of difficulty would be seen in converting between the serial protocols?

All in all, I'd say you've got a good hit here. ~$80 isn't a bad price to have a nicely outfitted ODB2 scan tool.

There is only one free software to use this device with MAC or Linux....which is:

pyOBD (Python library for OBDII communication) which i have never tested since i dont have access to MAC....and there are very very few people who like to hook there MAC up with there cars.

Its possible to use this device from MAC but, if you cannot find any softwares, and you really really have to use it with MAC, then the only option is to use Terminal kind (like Hyperterminal under Windows) utilities under MAC and in that case, you have to know all the PID's so that you can send the command to the device and get the reply back. but, that will not give you any type of multi PID recording(multi sensor data),digital dashboard and other goodies which are availble using this device with PC softwares.

Reason the price i made is reasonable, is that i want to introduce few more of my work (like this device) for autos and other subjects...if one of my device is moving, then i can invest on another design and keep working on something new.

Let me know if there are any more questions.
Thanks and Best Regards

I'm confused b/c I don't know much about this sort of thing so:

Does this work only with the Lumina or is it a GST?
