I'm planning on buying a 2005 Optima 4 cyl. Does anyone know if the 4 cyl is any better than the 6 cyl. I know it should be better on gas but is there anything else I need to think about? Thanks.

WE have the 4 cylinder and we like it alot. we get 23 mpg in th city and 31 on the highway with the a/c on going 70mph. It has nice power and doesnt suck gas like the 6 does.

I just got the 2005 Kia Optima a couple days ago. I got the 4 cyl, The difference is gas mileage is 4 cyl, 30 mpg Highway...the V6 around 20-22 mpg highway. So thats a pretty big differance. I love the sportmatic transmission. Has some really good get up and go speed when you put it into manual.

I would have to say it depends on your insurance costs. I own a V6 2.5L 2001 Optima that my son drives. When we used to drive it a lot, we got 32 mpg highway (using 5w-20) but 21 mpg city. It has gobs of power and I still don't understand why KIA moved up to a 2.7L, but I guess it was for more power yet. My buddy has the 2.4L 4 cylinder and he swears by it, but it's your choice....
