INFINITY SOUND SYSTEM ?'s.

I have a 97 Grand Caravan with the Infinity system. Does anybody know where the amp is located? I installed an aftermarket alpine deck yesterday. It appears that the remote turn on for the amp is not working. I connected the remote lead to the blue wire that came with the new wiring harness. According to the directions, that is where I was supposed to connect. They called it the power antenna lead on the harness side of things but obviously, the Caravan does not have an electric antenna (mine anyway). I suspect I might have blown the fuse for the amp.

When I removed the factory radio, there was a stand alone wire that was plugged into the back of the radio. It was not part of the two harness plugs. Anybody know what that is?

Thanks,
Sparky

Well, I confirmed my wiring via a post I found on this site with the pinout of the wiring harness. I also measured my remote lead with a volt meter and am getting a constant 12v when radio is on. This pretty much confirms that I must have either blown the fuse to the amp or damaged it somehow. I pulled the passenger kick panel off and did not find an amp. Can anyone tell me where it is? I have read some other posts where the speakers have the amp built in. Does anyone know if that applies to a 97?

Any help would be appreciated, my wife is getting pissed not having any music. Well thats partially true, the front dash speakers work, and the tweeters in the rear work. I just won't let her use it until I find out what is wrong. I don't want to further damage the system if something else is wrong.

Thanks,
Sparky

Finally got it figured out!! Turns out, the 97 does in fact have the on-board amps with the speakers. But only on the front doors and the side rears. The dash speakers and the tweeters in the back rear bypass the amp. The blue wire of my harness went to the green/red of the factory harness. That supplied the 12v to the amp for remote turn on. In my original post I mentioned a stand alone wire. It is a black wire with a green stripe. It was connected to the back of the factory radio all by itself via a spade-type female connector (male spade on radio). Turns out, that is the ground for the amp circuit. Grounded that wire to the chassis and it works!!!

Thanks Anyway,
Sparky
