Fan/Engine Noise

During the past few weeks, I've been noticing an odd noise coming from my engine. It does not sound like belt noise but rather like a slightly metallic rattling or jingle that is mainly present when the truck is stationary. The truck in question is a 2003 Tacoma Prerunner 2wd with about 60k miles on it. I have a sizable (60 miles a day round trip) stop and go commute so the truck is certainly seeing some action. I've never done any off-roading either. I'm thinking its maybe related to the fan or perhaps the air conditiioning. I'm not a mechanic so I know almost nothing about motors or automobiles. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, this truck goes through headlights at an astonishing rate. New bulbs are good for about 6 months and then one of them is history. Is this a common Toyota problem?

Do you have the noise if the AC is turned off? You don't say if your truck has DRL's (day running lights). If it does that may be the reason for burned out bulbs. I would have the alternator checked. It may have a faulty regulator causing a higher than normal voltage output. I haven't noticed many Toyota's with burned out lights, so I don't think that is a problem area.
