I installed an Autometer Air/Fuel gauge and I am having a problem. I connected my signal wire to the O2 sensor that's in the Engine Compartment on the side leading to the PCM (Tan Wire) Hot is to the ignition switch with a fuse inbetween the Ign switch and connection to the gauge. Ground is underneath the steering column. The problem is that I read Lean all the time, but the lean reading is very dim. When I start the car, the gauge lights up fully then backs down and stays on Lean. Apart from checking the voltages is there anything else I can do or does anyone have any ideas?

OK, so I checked the voltages and can't really tell anything, it fluctuates to much to get a good reading with my multimeter. I disconnected the plug that goes to the PCM and started the car...NO codes NO SES light, but the A/F gauge stayed on Rich. Plugged the O2 back in and the gauge went back to lean. nothing changes on WOT, or idle (meaning the reading stays lean). Where did I go wrong? The connection to the sensor is soldered and wrapped in elec tape. I double checked all of my connections to the gauge itself, made sure they were crimped tight and such. Anyone??? Bueler? Bueler? Bueler??? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Wrong wire. It has to be connected to the purple wire at the 02 sensor which is:

Good luck!
