I have a 91 GMC Jimmy 4 dr. Alrdy got 2 audiobahn 10s in bandpass box with 500w rms audiobahn amp goin to it. Also got a pioneer deh-p470mp head unit. Door speakers wear replaced with memphis 6.5s (back doors) and memphis 4x6 (dash). Anyone know if it would be worth it to get some decent tweeters in there, where to hook them up, and how. Any help would be appreciated.

With the added base and the fact that the new speakers will only add to that I would recommend tweeters. That is if you like quality sound and not just loud bass. Another thing you can do is install Bass blockers (they block the lows) in the lines to the dash speakers, but with new speakers its almost a waste.

As for mounting of tweeters, I would put the in the pillar, directionality is key, they should sort of angle towards you but enough of an angle that if you visualize the sound you can see it cross inbetween the front seats.

Wiring I would wire them off of the front speaker wires in the dash up the column, I would recommend bass blocking these, I have blown enought tweeters in my time. They will be very sharp and crisp so make sure to take some time adjusting. The nice thing about added tweeters is now everyone can sing along because you can now hear it more clearly outside of the vehicle... even with the windows up. (try it and see)

would my speakers and the tweeters still sound good without having to buy another amp if i just get 2 tweeters?

YES, they will sound good, at least as good as the deck will allow them, are you using the factory head unit or are you using an aftermarket one?

I would of course if ever possible install an amp for the speakers just to get optimal power going to them.

i got a pioneer premier head unit pushing 50 to each of my 4 speakers, and i really dont want to have to pay to have another amp installed just for my door speakers cuz they only handle about 75 max.

just go with the tweeters, a secondary amp is not necessary
